The use of AT systems allows to combine high-speed and highly flexible production technologies with easy operation. e.g. machine tool technology: Visualization of all workpieces available within a machine tool represented by a menu on the display of the control unit. By "clicking" on the adequate picture, the workpiece is fabricated. Automatic upgrading of the program through simple modifications of the pictures included in the menu - in CAD technique. A dialog function alerts the user if a job cannot be solved yet - and provides possible solutions. Machines of this type are "self-teaching" and will be able to solve an increasing number of jobs the longer they are in use.
