The use of AT technology is predestined for improving production time in the metal cutting industry, but also highly recommended for the wood and plastics working industry, as well as for a wide range of industrial robots.
Especially in the metal cutting industry, turning machines can be improved with automated tools to become highly flexible equipment. In turning machines, clamping/releasing action is required on the head spindle (workpiece) as well as on the tool spindle (tool). By replacing the conventional machine components with adequate AT spindles, the clamping/releasing function can be commanded as N/C axis, which allows fully automatic retooling in a very easy and time-saving way.

The benefits:
  • A turning machine with implemented AT system can produce workpieces of all kinds.
  • A turning machine with implemented AT system is all but complicated.
  • A turning machine with implemented AT system is all but slow.
The implementation of AT systems to your turning machines is already profitable when the overall machine running time can be increased by approx. 2 hours per week as against your conventional machine. Even with a conservative assumption of reducing set-up time to its half, all machines with a standstill of more than 4 hours per week offer potential benefits by upgrading them with AT systems.

(Considerably higher reductions in set-up time will be feasible.)
